MOVEMENT

I like to change the fabric and colours that I work with - perhaps in order to find new possibilities to preserve a material, a garment or a technique.

My inspiration comes from an organic feeling, material contrasts, print and colour experiments in light grey scales.

I am also inspired by the movement in life, in the body, of a garment and changes in the moment.

The silhouettes that I have worked with are shaped to allow volume and lightness: a garment inspired by a neoclassic dress with its draped fall and rich layers, combined with elements from my own draping and smock stitching on hand printed fabric.

I also had a traditional Japanese kimono as a starting point of my inspiration. Apart from this magnificent handicraft itself, the tradition of working consciously and eliminate fabric waste really appealed to me.

The end product of my kimono is made like a draped patchwork, where I have combined wool with hand-printed light silk / cotton fabric.

I have also created accessories made of woven wood. This inspiration came from the birch binding technique, due to my own northern Swedish roots.
